Portugal

Since we are in a vacation time, here is some information for those who would like to visit Portugal.

“Portugal is one of the oldest countries in all Europe, where outstanding monuments, castles and churches meet the futuristic new buildings and technologies embraced by this vibrant country.

With traditions and architecture stretching back over the centuries, some say this is one of the most ancient countries in Europe; great! This is the magic of Portugal and along with its climate, it makes this a favourite destination for the discerning tourist.

Lisbon is one of Europe’s most unspoilt cities while the delights of Cascais and Sintra are just a short drive away.
The peace and tranquility of the small villages built inside old castles walls or amidst stunningly picturesque countryside cannot be surpassed.

And don’t forget Madeira, paradise island of the Atlantic where the abundant flora is just as incredible as the stunning coasts and mountains.

But if you’re after a sun-tan, the beautiful and long sandy beaches of the Algarve have it all. Surrounded by amazing cliffs and crystal clear waters, this is the Portuguese region with the best all year round weather.

Tips on How to save: In the supermarket

1 - Decide previously, how much do you want to spend and take along a calculator machine to control the money.
2 – Make a list of what you need and stick to it.
3 – Take enough time to shop, therefore you can compare products and prices.
4 - Do go to the supermarket on an empty stomach, you will tend to buy more food than you really need.
5 – Look at the leaflets left in mail box. It might worth to drive a bit more and buy a specific product cheaper than usual.
6 – Don't buy everything just in one supermarket. It might save you money to buy fruits and vegetables ou fish and meet in little markets.
7 - Compare the price of a single unit with the price of a package. If it's something that you will need it might be a better deal to buy the large packs.
8 - Use promotions in a smart way. If you don't need, don't buy!
9 – Try the products with no brand. In some cases, they have similar better quality than original products and you may save from 30% up to 50%.
10 – Search for magazines that publish the lists announcing the cheapest supermarket in your country. Savings can be made without traveling great distances.
11 - Avoid buying in service stations. Everything it's too expensive.
12 – If you have the place, try to farm vegetables at home. They are healthier and cheaper.

Facebook

Are you a facebook user? Do you think it can bring us some advantages? Do you use it to work?
I use for both personal, to connect with my friend, to know the latest trends and what they are up to and use it also in my work. I have a facebook page for my agency and I find it to be a very useful marketing tool. Presently I don't have time to updated as often as I would like but one thing I now, with facebook I can reach lots of people and provide them updated information on last minute deals and packages.
Recently I found another great use of facebook. There is a possibility of buying and send iTunes Online Gifts, and there are plenty of choice for all tastes, they even have an iTune fan page. The not so good part, at least for me, is that it is only available for US users but I'll be patiently waiting for it to arrive in Europe.
Even thought I'm a fan already of the page and if you are a iTune fan you should check it out.

Holiday Season

Now it goes dark earlier and it smells like winter, shops have already Christmas items all over, If it was not for the hot sun during the day we could say that Christmas is knocking on our doors and we mostly realize that in shopping centers or in the evening when the weather stays a bit colder. Holidays season is coming and people start to feel the need to buy weight loss pills because with winter time and holidays pastries and sweets and hot chocolate and season cakes are coming and most people can’t resist it. Today I could not resist and I ate a pastry that I can only find in some places.

Web Hosting

When I first started with blogging I knew nothing about internet pages. I wanted to write, and at first I started with a Portuguese blog, soon enough I realized a Portuguese blog did not reach as many people as I wanted and had some limitations regarding projects I might wanted to explore. After a long time, and after reading a lot of other blogs, I decided I could also use my blog to earn some extra cash. Now I want to have my own domain because some tasks to earn money online are only allowed to people with their own domain and web Hosting. After searching a bit I found out a great site, Web Hosting Geeks, where I have the combined information of the best web hosts. They have links to web host providers and you can choose right from there because you have all the necessary information regarding rates, features, bonus and they even rate all the providers. They have links with several categories of web hosts, like They even have tips on how to find the best web host, web hosting guide, how to make money online with your web host, etc. I think the best is that you can benefit from all the information they gathered only in one site and from there you can make our own decision.

Tips To Lose Weight

Here are 9 tips that you may find helpful in starting your weight loss plan:

1. Keep a detailed list of that you eat. Try to estimate the portion size and amount of calories of what you eat each day. This way you can see how much you are actually eating and more easily see what you can minimize intake of in your meals.

2. Exercise at least 30 minutes every day. Depending on your physical condition, you can start with a brisk walk, and try to walk a little faster and a little further each day.

3. Positive thinking. To stay with your exercise program, try focusing on the positive. Just think about how good you will look and feel when you achived your weight loss goal.

4. Plan your meals on a weekly basis. Planning and having food ready each day is a very effective technique and will make you have a much better chance of sticking to your plan.

5. The recommended amount of water to drink each day is 8 glasses. If you think this is too much, drink whatever you are comfortable with and whatever amount works for you.

6. Take any opportunity to add a little extra exercise into your every day life. For example, if you can take the stairs instead of the elevator, then do it.

7. Find a friend with similar goals as yourself. Sometimes things are easier if you share them with someone else. It can help to keep both of you motivated to stick to your plan.

8. Join a group like weight watchers. Having the reinforcement of the group and knowing you will meet them every week can help keep you motivated.

9. Finally, have realistic goals. Make a achievable plan of how much weight you want to lose and by which date and stick to it!

The Nurse’s guide to good living

I’m not a doctor nor a nurse but as I used to work in a medical clinic when I was in university and I feel the need to keep informed about relevant issues to nurses and doctors, so I’m always interested in websites that might help me in that matter, so in one of my searches I found Scrubs, an online magazine for nurses with a lot of helpful information and tips not only for them but also for everyone interested in the variety of great topics they discuss there. It gives good points of view about health, work, money, style, beauty and lots of other topics. An article that I found particularly interesting is related with beauty and how to find ways to look younger, mentioning there some tips like moisturizing the skin, having a good sleep, taking care of our teeth and hair, all cares we should take in consideration not also to look younger but also to be healthier. By reading Scrubs I found myself like if I was reading a good book that I cannot stop until reaching the final.

Another article that I consider especially relevant at this time of the year is “Ten Dos & Don’ts a Travel Nurse Knows”, there you can have tips on how to plan your holiday travel this summer. Also the article of the “Self Tanning DOs and DON'Ts” is excellent to read in the beginning of summer. There you can read how to get the best result when you choose to self tannig and how you should do it not to affect your health.

Besides articles like the ones I referred above the site also offers you their polls where you can give your opinion by voting,
To sum up I can say that Scrubs is an online magazine containing updated and very useful information that everyone should read.

Sensory Marketing

The impact of globalization, technological innovations, markets connections and the constant changes processes highlight the challenges of daily business. In this context, establish a emotional connection is an important strategic element of marketing, in order to gain and maintain relationships between organizations and their customers (Gomes and Abi-Saber 2008). The importance lies in the possibility of the company differentiate itself in a situation as competitiveness. Realizing that, organizations are trying to act in the emotions sphere, hoping to create a unique bond with the consumer (McKinley 2009). To do so, according to Schmitt and Simonson (1998), called the Sensory Marketing, instead of using strategies that explore the logical and rational dimensions of the product (features, quality and price), aims to entice consumers. It aims the production of messages that reach the right hemisphere of the human brain (emotion), as opposed to messages that affect the left hemisphere (right).

According to Sanches (2002), a while ago, all the sale calls made use of vision as the sense employed by marketing strategists. This preference is justified by the fact that over 70% of human perception is based on the vision. It is no coincidence they use colors as an important choice, as well as lighting and arrangement of the shelves. The first evaluation of the place of sale is made by the eyes, the appearance is determinant when deciding what to buy. However, human beings have four other senses that can be as efficient as calling the customer through the eyes.

Pictures, sounds, smells, tastes and all experiences not only do they stimulate the senses, but also strong memories. Appeal to the 5 senses allows the construction of a “personality” for each brand, able to not only provide comfort, but to make consumers remember a shop, even when away from her!

By the sea

It is a beauteous evening, calm and free;
The holy time is quiet as a nun
Breathless with adoration; the broad sun
Is sinking down in its tranquillity;

The gentleness of heaven is on the sea:
Listen! the mighty Being is awake,
And doth with his eternal motion make
A sound like thunder -everlastingly.

Dear child! dear girl! that walkest with me here,
If thou appear untouched by solemn thought
Thy nature is not therefore less divine:

Thou liest in Abraham's bosom all the year,
And worshipp'st at the Temple's inner shrine,
God being with thee when we know it not.

Home business opportunity

Presently I’m working a lot but not earning at the some proportion. It’s been some months now that I’ve been thinking about having my own business and I’ve been searching for Home based business to see if I find something worthwhile. I would like to be my own boss but knowing that by the end of the month I have money to cover all my expenses. I think a more easy way of starting my own business would be in a franchising because we have help to manage the business in the first months. I wanted something that could bring me some money but most of all something that I enjoy. I have one business in mind related with my Tourism MBA but I have no money to start the business and I have difficulties obtaining a loan. I like teaching but I cannot take a monthly income out of it, that’s why I wanted something with more stability.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year

New York Travel

New York is my dream city. Every time I see something related to vacation in New York, or travel to New York I have to read it and pay close attention and I start dreaming with the day I’ll travel there. I would really love to go there on Christmas time because, judging by the things we see on TV, it’s the most lovely city in this time of the year.

I recently saw an article in a blog and I’ve decided to share it with you that have the same passion as me.

“7 Tips To Do New York On A Budget

New York City in general and Manhattan in particular has a reputation for being an expensive place to visit, and it is if you want it to be. But it doesn’t have to be that way. Earlier this week, for example, I spent two days in the Big Apple and spent less than $50 total for food and entertainment. Here are some tips to do New York on a budget.

1. Check local publications for days when local museums such as the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Museum of Natural History, Museum of Modern Art, etc have free or reduced-rate fares. Posted “suggested donation” signs mean just that: it’s the suggested donation. You are free to donate as much or as little as you like, or nothing at all. That said, please try to donate at least something. These places aren’t cheap to keep open.

2. Consider purchasing a New York Pass if you plan on visiting more than two or three of the popular tourist attractions such as the Statue of Liberty, Empire State Building, Guggenheim Museum, etc during your trip. One-day passes start as low as $69.00 and contain over $600 worth of entry coupons, though of course you’d be hard-pressed to use them all in just one day. Luckily, 7-day passes go for just $135, a real bargain, and children’s passes are even cheaper. The New York Pass can easily pay for itself after just four or five uses depending on what you’re most interested in doing.

3. Walk. Manhattan from Central Park all the way south to the financial district and battery is imminently walkable and covers less distance than you probably think. Save on subway trips ($2 one-way) by planning your day’s activities ahead of time and then do them in geographical order from north to south (or vice versa). Not only will you save money, you’ll get plenty of exercise to help burn off all those delicious street snacks you’ll be eating along the way. Besides, New York is a city that must be experienced on the ground to be truly appreciated. You’ll miss most of what the city has to offer if you’re busy hopping from site to site via taxi or subway the entire time. Take a stroll. Do some window shopping along the way. Take in the sights. Getting there is half the fun.

4. Since most of you will probably have to ride the subway anyway despite all the walking you’ll be doing, it might pay to purchase a multi-day pass. Passes come in 1, 7, 14, and 30 day periods and allow for unlimited subway and bus trips until expiration. If you ride a lot (maybe the weather isn’t conducive to walking), you could save a significant amount of money buying your trips in bulk.

5. People watch in Times Square or Rockefeller Center. Most of the people you’ll see in these areas are probably tourists from all over the world. New York is home to an astonishing variety of people from every nation or culture you could think of. You could spend hours taking it all in. If you’re lucky, you might even see a naked cowboy.

6. Picnic in Central Park. Pick up some cheap sandwich ingredients and head to Central Park where you can sit in the sun, people watch, and maybe even rent a row boat or two.

7. Go to the site of the former World Trade Center. While the lot itself is currently under development for the new Freedom Tower, the city has erected a moving tribute to those who died on 9/11 near the Port Authority Terminal. It’s free and is a must-see for every American.”

Unemployment

Being unemployed is really getting me down from day to day. Although I have my inscription in the job center they don’t have many offers for all unemployed people. Last week I was called to the unemployed office to have a workshop, with several other people with a license degree, on how to search jobs online, mainly in the EURES Portal. We also focused other things like “a good posture in a job interview” but the core issue of the workshop was to motivate us to search European and Worldwide jobs. It’s no use to say that, although I knew the Eures Portal already, when I got home I went to the net to search job related sites worldwide and I found an one with several interesting articles for those unemployed looking for a new job. They have articles with tips to maximize a job search, they have job board blogs in their links, articles to help professionals taking more advantages on their careers and they even show the unemployment rate and other statistics on their site. For those who might need the site name is Employment Metrix. It’s good to have access to this information in order to gain some motivation to keep searching for a job that suits us. It’s a shame that the unemployment office is not doing this as often as it should but they deserve a credit for starting with this kind of workshops.

Halloween

October 31 is Halloween!!! This festival is popular all over the world. I will tell you Halloween festival.
At first, why is called Halloween? November 1 is “All Saints' Day (Hallowmas)”. So, October 31 is the eve of that day=All Hallow Eve. Then it is called Halloween. Originally, this festival is a religion behavior of Celtic about 2,000 years ago. People believed that people who died come to life in this day.
Speaking of Halloween, Dressing up, Trick or Treat, Pumpkin!!! First is dressing up. Ancient people believed that dead people come back to life. So they get children to dress up and intend to drive off them. Second is “Trick or Treat”. People prepared treat as an offering to calm down ghosts. However, children wanted to get treat. So they began to say this word as a trick. Last is pumpkin. People make Jack-o-Lantern. It is the lantern of pumpkin. This is also for driving off ghosts.
Now, Halloween party is held all over the world. Children and adults enjoy this festival. In Portugal, this is starting to be a custom, and is already celebrated in many night places like bars and clubs.

But the Portuguese tradition is also kept. Children do not go to play trick or treat but they go ask for some traditional Portuguese cake called “merendeira” or some sweats and chocolates. The “merendeira” is a tipical little cake made especially from this time on until Christmas.

Eyeglasses from ZenniOptical

I have a sightseeing problem since I was 16 years old and I started using prescription eyeglasses. With years going by it’s getting worse from year to year. First I used eyeglasses only when I was in class or, sometimes, to watch TV but has my problem got worse I felt the need to wear them every day. By my 19 years old, when I was in university, I’ve decided that I did not like others to see me with eyeglasses and I asked my ophthalmologist to try contact lenses. So I did and I really like the feeling of not having to wear my old glasses every day. Eventually came the time when I couldn’t bear having eye contact lenses all day long and I had to start using once in a while eyeglasses. By that time, and as you know, eyeglasses started to be a fashion item too and therefore I was not embarrassed of having a fashionable eyeglasses. Now sometimes I wear contact lenses and other eyeglasses, depending on the occasion and on the mood, but my eyeglasses are becoming old fashion and I want to change them, so I did a little research and I found an amazing site, zennioptical.com, with eyeglasses for all tastes and really cheaper. You just need to take a look. I was amazed when I bump into that site. Not only you can find a good quality price relation but also you can find the ultimate fashion and style.
At Zenni Optical you can also find online a variety of lens types, like progressive or bifocal, at prices never seen, from 8$ you can have the eyeglasses model you always dreamed of.
They are so amazing that they even are news in the Chicago Tribune.
See with your one eyes!

A Lifetime Story

There are stories that last for a lifetime and worth a lot knowing.I found a site that seemed interesting to me because they have some conferences with bible stories that worth knowing, if you want you can Find out more about these conferences that seems very interesting.I am Catholic and when I was a child I attended church all Sundays. There I heard some bible stories that at the time didn’t mean anything but today I know they have a meaning and they contain a life lesson. Some of these stories are similar to those happening in real life. My favorite bible story It’s about Ruth and I would like to share it with you. It’s a love story written in the Old Testament. Ruth is left a widow at a young age and she has to deal with that at her own way. Instead of going to live with her parents she decides to stay living with her mother in law, Naomi and returns with her to Judah, where she now becomes an alien in a foreign country. She treated her mother-in-law as her very own and loved her. She wished to help, support and care for her mother-in-law, who in spite of losing her husband and both her sons, was a kind and selfless lady. She gave the choice to her daughters-in-law to go to their parents’ house. Ruth could have readily accepted this offer and lived comfortably in her parents’ house. But she chose to go along with her mother-in-law to an unknown land. This reflects on her kind and compassionate nature. Her kindness was richly rewarded. This is one I really like because it tells us about love, loyalty and compassion, feelings that are rare in our days but sometimes reflect modern day stories. If you wish to Find out more about Bible stories and Theatre Church when CineMeetings & Events brings the first-ever Theatre Church Conference in Silver Spring, MD on October 22 & 23.

Earn Money in the Internet

Start earning money to surf using our Surf Junky browser. Your statistics are updated in real time and you get paid every month!
Surf Junky: a very new revolution and super-competitive compared to other similar sites. The time you spend on the internet is paid you 0.50 U.S. dollars per hour. You just need to have an open window (which do not bother at all) and visit and click once an hour. Try to think about on how many hours you spend on the net a year and multiply by 0.5$...
It’s not much but it’s a help. In three days I made 7.5$, and most of the time I spend those 3 days without having paid post.
Give it a try!
